I looked for almost an hour for anything on these guys and came up completely empty. the excellent Sing Sing blog posted this a while back. It's such a great record I wanted to include it here as well. I guess we'll have to assume The Tools were Scottish because it's on Oily Records. Other than that I found nothing. Info is always appreciated!!!

Hi Frank,
The Tools were from Dingwall, Scotland. Formed in 1978. Pete Varley (v), Roger Lloyd-Cooper (g, v), Jimmy McCullough (g), Stuart Martin (b), Geroge Gambell (d). Lone single recorded in 1979 at Craighall Studios, Edinburgh. 5000 copies pressed. Disbanded in 1980.
Great 7'' !!
Cheers mate!
Thanks for the info, Mike.Love your Blog!!!!
Hey,
Really interested to see this. I'm in London and saw The Tools a number of times mainly at the Marquee Club.
I even still have the drummer's drumstick he threw into the crowd one time.....but he can have it back if he wants it!!
Cheers
Peter.
The Tools were a great band I used to go to their local gigs. There is not a lot of information to be found about them. I know they made a demo tape maybe someone reading this might have a copy.
Thanks for the comment. I'd like to hear that as well.
Go to youtube.com and search for Aberdeen-The Tools you will get some information there.
I have a copy of of demo tape
