Once again, a big thank to Paul Powell for the band info. G squad were a mostly Norfolk, based four piece; around from 1979 til 1982. This single and a few other songs were recorded over two sessions at Octopus Studios in Stowupland, Suffolk. Unfortunately, I've noticed a slight pressing issue with my copy. There's a bit of audible noise on side one but it's not terrible.
Line Up-
Brad Henry - Lead Guitar, VocalsThis killer 4 song Ep. was recorded for Chiswick Records in 1977 but went unreleased till now. Different Class Records, (a Portuguese Label) has recently remastered and released it. If you're interested in picking one up and you totally should be, (it's a must have). I wouldn't let any grass grow under your feet; they only pressed 300 copies, (200 on black with a red sleeve and 100 on black with a green sleeve). You can still pick up both versions on Discogs; I put the link below.

Blue are a Glasgow, Scotland four piece that originally formed in 1973. According to This Wikipedia Page, they may still be around in some form. In all, they've have Eight full lengths and at least Eighteen single's to their credit.
B-Movie were a four piece from Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, England that formed in 1978. This Ep was their first release. Two earlier tracks were released on the The Dead Good Records "East" Comp; both tracks are included. B-Movie released a number of singles, Ep's and a full length before disbanding in 1985. The band flirted closely with international mainstream success but ultimately, it eluded them. After a long Hiatus, 2004 saw a reunion for a couple of shows; eventually resulting in two more full lengths. It looks as though they're still active. I'll leave links below.

Here's a sparkling example of everything right with British Powerpop, from the late 70's through the early 80's. Super catchy, well crafted songs; under produced, just enough to make them really pop. This charming record deserves to sit among any of the best Powerpop records from the era or any era for that matter.

This ones been in my queue for a while now. Mammals are a Chicago three piece with three releases to their credit, ( two 7" singles and a fairly new 7" E.p). They describe themselves as being garagey power pop, delivered with heart and soul. I agree with that assessment; although I think they lean more towards power pop. One thing I love about these guy's is a real sense of sadness that shines through their music. I purchased all three records. They wrote me a hand note, thanking me. That sort of thing is a rarity now days. I hope they come east one day; would like to catch them live!
The Montycoats were a Dutch four piece that were around in the early 80's.This appears to be the bands only release. I couldn't find much else. I first heard this on the great, seemingly now defunct, Sing Sing blog about ten years ago. What little info I was able to find came from there.
The Heartbeats were an Orpington, UK three piece
The Heartbeats were a Munich, Germany four piece garage outfit, that formed in 1983. They released four full lengths and two singles. Their last offering was in 2001. That said, along with the lack of info on these guys; I'm guessing they're probably gone.
Ever since hearing this Ep, I haven't been able to get it out of my head. Super catchy tunes with absolutely Killer female vocals.
This one was posted a while back on a couple of great blogs but I really wanted to add it to my collection, so here it goes.

The Cowboys were a short lived Columbus, Ohio outfit that were around from 1979 to 1980. There isn't much info on these guys; except they were Mark Eitzel's first band. You can read more about him HERE, if you feel so inclined. This was the bands only record and what a record it was. Teenage life is a great, snotty Punk Smasher!
The Shakers were a Canadian four piece, that were around from 1979 till 1983. During that span, they released two full lenths, a couple of singles, (This being the first) and a couple of Ep's. I really like their first Lp, "In Time". After The Shakers broke up, Dave Des Roches went on to become the lead singer of Teenage Head. He had previously been a backing musician on their Frantic City Lp. Gord lewis from Teenage Head played some guitar on this as well.
