On October 3rd 2009, I posted The Gas's Ignore Me Single. A few people requested to hear more from them, but unfortunately I never got around to it. Just recently I got another request, due to the dead Megaupload link. I figured this was a perfect opportunity to put together my own retrospect, or best of if you will. I dug through my records, and these are all I have. I seem to remember seeing another single years ago, but this may be all of their releases, I'm not totally sure. I pulled my favorite songs from each one; sorry for the crappy picture, I didn't feel like taking each picture separately, and my camera sucks, Enjoy!!
The Gas were a UK three piece that were around in the early eighties. Unfortunately, for as many records as these guys put out; not allot of info exists.
Line Up:
Donnie Burke - Vocals, Guitar
Dell Vickers - Bass, Vocals
Leslie Sampson - Drums, Vocals
Polydor & Good Vibrations Records 1981-1983

The first Gas single was 'It Shows In Your Face' / 'Tomorrow' (Nov 80), 'Treatment' was also released on 12". There's also a 1983 promo 7" of 'From The Cradle To The Grave' / 'Look What Love Has Done To Me'. Good Vibrations is not the famous Belfast label if you were wondering. Burke and Vickers previously played with both Sounder and Sneeky Feelin's (one 45 each).
I knew there was another single; I definitely remember It Shows On Your Face. I either had, or still have it. I can't imagine, I would have gotten rid of it. I'm going digging again to see if I still have it.Thank you for the info; I appreciated it.
The first LP is an underrated classic. I love it. You should post the entire discography. I have most of it, but am always interested in a cleaner vinyl rip. Thanks.
Thanks for posting the songs Heartache and Hostage from the 5th single! Those are the only Gas songs I didn't have and have been looking for them for years.

Your welcome, glad I could help. I'm familiar with the Sneeky feelins record, I never heard the roadhousedogs though, thanks for the links, and the comments. By the way, I can't find my It shows on your face single. I can't imagine that I would sell it; maybe it will pop up one of these days, bummer.
For your pleasure I do have some of the Gas stuff posted including the It Shows In Your Face single:

Thank you for this compilation. Very very good.
No problem, thanks for the comment Woody.
I met the The Gas tour Manager Harry Clarke on a holiday in Corfu in 1981. He was a great lad and he brought the gas to Northern Ireland later in 1981 and I followed them around my own little country. I spent their last night in the famous Belfast music producers Terry Hooley's house in Holywood County Down. We drank the night away and the boys gave me a lift home the next morning so I could get to work. Id love to catch up with the lads again and especially Harry Clarke so if anyone has a contact please forward to steed1999_steed99@yahoo.com.
Thanks Tony
Cool story, thanks for the comment Tony!
Harry Clarke had a stroke just before he was 30, he was then co-opted into Stroke counselling on the basis that most people think that ‘only old people have strokes’
Harry the found himself as the stroke counsellor of Edwyn Collins after Edwyn suffered his well documented double brain haemorrhage.
Sadly Harry passed away suddenly a couple of years ago.
Donnie now fronts alt country outfit The Roadhouse Dogs who have a couple of albums available, he still gigs around London but not much further afield.
He also performed and played a year or so ago a few gigs reviving The Gas songs with Simon Minney on bass.
There is a new Roadhouse Dogs album imminent (as at 18-4-2020)
Sorry my post was of sad tidings regarding Harry, I have some Gas press photos etc that id post Id I could work out how on here!
Sorry to hear of Harry's passing. Thank you for the info.
Any chance of uploading or puttin on YouTube the cradle to the grave album ? I have it on vinyl but no record player and it’s not been released on cd! Ta
