The Great Invisibles appear to have been a five piece from Jacksonville Beach, Florida. For me, "Walk Home" is the stand out track here; It's a great slice of driving Pop Punk with a Farfisa, Arp 2600, Synth. The record looks to have been self released and unfortunately the net yields little else about the band. I did find a page for Arvid Smith, you can check out below.
Line Up -
Robin Poore - Guitar, Lead Vocals
Arvid Smith - Guitar, Ring Modulator
David Gall - Farfisa, Arp 2600, Backing Vocals
Bobby Grimes - Bass

Thank you very much!!!
Your welcome Pello, Thanks For The Comment!
I actually grew up in Jacksonville and had this record. These guys were the arty new wavers of the town, as heard on this disc. You are right, Arvid Smith was kinda the only member to have a prolific musical career of sorts. He was always involved in the Jacksonville Museum of Arts and Sciences and it's planetarium. Thanks for finding this and posting. I sure wish I hadn't traded in my copy so many years ago... sigh...
Your welcome Garrett, thanks for your comment and insight!
I led the band MAD LOVE in Jax and played several shows with THE GREAT INVISIBLES. Those were amazing times. I moved to Los Angeles in ‘83 to work in films. Now, 35 years later, I’ll be playing in Jax with my band URN on 07/26/2018!
Thanks for the info Cleve, how did the show go? I see you're into monster makeups. I've always been a fan of horror movies. My daughter and I really enjoyed Face Off. There were some really cool makeups on that show.
I was the bass player with the Great Invisibles when the EP was made (and thereafter). I was drafted into the band by David Gall (keyboard & guitar) when their original bass player quit. I also made the EP cover art as I was working for a printer and had recently graduated with a degree in graphic design (it was a "quick and dirty" design I did in my spare time at work). Photo of the band was taken on roof of the Children's Museum but was too wide for the EP cover so I sliced it up). I moved to California in December of 1984 when the band was having personality conflicts and trying to figure out what to do next. Another Jacksonville friend (the friend who introduced me to David Gall prior to the GIs) was working in a design studio in Los Angeles and told me there was a position open for another designer so I left for CA. Shortly after, I started my own design studio called Amara Grimes Design. I loved playing with the GIs and enjoyed every minute of it. When I moved to L.A. and the vibrant music scene there, all I could imagine was how much further we may have gone in a city like L.A. I now live in Pasadena. https://www.amaragrimes.com
Thank You for the info and the update Bob! Glad to hear you're alive and well!
