THE SAINTS (LIVE AT THE HOPE AND ANCHOR 1977)

Like me,have any of you ever listened to the Saint's do demolition girl on the old hope and anchor comp and wish that someone would put out the rest of the show? well you prayers are answered . This record smokes, and is essential for any Saint's fans. And if your not a fan, one listen to this and you'll become one. This is what wikipedia has to say about the Saints are an Australian rock band, formed in Brisbane in 1974. They are considered to be one of the first and most influential punk groups. By 1975, contemporaneous with the Ramones, The Saints were employing the fast tempos, raucous vocals and "buzzsaw" guitar that characterised early punk rock. With their first single "(I'm) Stranded", in late 1976, they released a record ahead of better-known punk acts like the Sex Pistols and The Clash. Bob Geldof has been quoted as saying, "Rock music in the Seventies was changed by three bands — the Sex Pistols, the Ramones and The Saints".[1][2]
The founding members of the band, other than Chris Bailey, left during the 1970s and '80s. During the 1980s, The Saints progressively adopted a more mainstream, classic rock style, and they achieved increasing commercial success in Australia.

Hey Frank,

All I know about ZShare is that about 2 weeks ago they dumped most of their files for some unknown reason.

I would suggest going to Sharebee.com

I think your blog is great keep up the great work!!

Thanks for this. I've wondered about those Hope and Anchor gigs for years. What about The Stranglers and XTC. The Only Ones. There must be some great stuff out there somewhere!

I'm sure this was taken from the sound board. So it would make sense that those recordings must exist as well.

You are totally right to go a bit daft for The Saints. Their early stuff was out of this world. 'Perfect Day' and 'I'm Stranded' have to be considered as two of the finest singles to be released at around that time. It's a shame that a lot of people give them grief for the way they developed into more of a rock band. Chris Bailey in my mind was an absolute genius.
