Menlo Park (Wrong Side Of A Gun Single)

Menlo Park were an Ashland, Kentucky four piece that formed in 1979. I believe this was their only single; it was self released with a small pressing of 100-200 copies. Five more songs were released in 1981, on a 3 band comp titled, " The Recording Workshop". In 2013, Menlo Park reunited for a couple tunes, you can find it HERE. The Cheap Rewards Blog did a nice write up on these guys a few years back. If you want to read more about the band, check it out. Here's the bands Facebook page as well.

Lucky Pierre were a Cleveland, Ohio four piece. The band was founded in 1974 by Kevin McMahon, it's only constant member. Through multiple line-ups, hiatus's and incarnations; it seems some form of the band may still exist. In all, they released one full length, six singles, an Ep and a best of cd in 2009.
Additional tidbits.. Brian McMahon, (Kevin's brother) played guitar for the Electric Eels.
Trent Reznor, ( founder of Nine Inch Nails) played keyboards from 1988 - 1989.
Kevin McMahon founded the band Prick in 1992.

The Bit (Don't Wanna Be Rejected)

I found little info on this one but, (as per Discogs) The Bit appear to have been a four piece from Whittier California. Other than this single, they released a second one titled, "band of your dreams" on Allied Artists Records in 1982. I couldn't find who played what instrument's but the line up included: Tommy Arriola, Louis Cardenas, David Flores, and Danny Ramos.

Kevin McCabe (Motor Car Ep)

Kevin McCabe is a New Jersey singer/songwriter and producer. He composed for and played multiple instruments in a 70's rock outfit called Airborne. This Ep appears to be a solo release, as I see no additional credits on the record. I found another full length solo release called "Fearless", from 2007. If interested, you can purchase it here.

The Cybermen (The Cybermen Ep)

a repost by request, originally posted 2-25-09, new rips and scans.
The Cybermen were a three-piece from Accrington, Lancashire. They formed early in 1977 from the ashes of a R& B/Pub Rock band named EsaxLucius. The Cybermen’s line-up featured IanP. Dixon (b/v) and Roger Entwistle (gtr/v)plus an unknown drummer who left for Norway in the first weeks of 1978 to be replaced by Paul Milek (aka Kid Slick), formerly of Schoolgirl Bitch. Recorded at Cambridge’s Spaceward Studios on March 28, 1978, and released on their own label, Rockaway Records, in mid-June in an edition of 1,000 copies (with a further batch of 500 copies following a few months later).

The Shake Shakes appear to have been from California. They released a second single titled Don't worry 'bout The Night / Fools don't mind, before disappearing into Powerpop obscurity.  Richard Snyder went on to play with Captain Beefhearts Band. If you look in the comments someone was nice enough to leave some info on the band.

I think I've probably owned every Jags record, at one time or another; this one being my favorite of the bunch. Most of their records are pretty easy to find and inexpensive, so if you like this, you shouldn't have much trouble finding it.
The Jags were a Yorkshire based four piece that formed in 1978. In July of that year, they signed to Island Records and before disbanding sometime around 1982; they released an Ep, a couple Lp's and a maybe a half a dozen singles.

The Speedies (Let Me Take Your Foto and Something On My Mind Singles)

A re-post, by request, originally posted separately on 6-17-09 and 5-10-10. New rips and scans enjoy!
The Speedies were one of the more popular bands of the late 1970's NYC, Max's Kansas City/ C.B.G.B's Club Scene, despite the fact that 3 of the 5 members were still in High School at the time. At the height of their popularity, Allen, the drummer, was 15, Greg and Eric, the 2 guitar players were 16, John Marino was 20 and John Carlucci, 21. They broke the House attendance records at Max's Kansas City by selling out 4 shows in one weekend. The Speedies opened for many of the biggest Punk/Power Pop bands of the era, including The Jam, The Undertones, The Gang of Four, Ultravox, The Members, The David Johanson Group,The Plimsouls, The Rezillos, and the Tourists. They released 2 super catchy singles, the first, "Let Me Take your Foto" b/w "No Substitute", was produced by the late Joel Webber, (the founder of the New Music Seminar) and recorded at Skyline studios in NYC. The second,"Something on My Mind" b/w "Time", was produce by Clem Burke of Blondie, and recorded at Jimi Hendrix' Electric Lady Studios in Greenwich Village. Here's The Speedies Myspace page.
