THE STIMULATORS (LOUD FAST RULES !)

The Stimulators were one of the last great punk bands in New York City before Hardcore/Thrash took over. The Stimulators played fast, but kept a tight melodic bite in the catchy, feisty songs. "Loud, Fast Rules," the song for which they're most remembered, is a rousing blast of energy with sing-along lyrics and a sharp, compact sound that goes straight to the center of your brain. Their later work wandered into the thrashier side of Punk and their drummer, Harley Flanagan, went on to start the Cro-Mags. Aside from their appearance on the Roir Records compilation New York Thrash, they released one 7" single (now a highly prized collectors item and a helluva record to this day) as well as a live tape, also on Roir. The Stimulators broke up right around the time the 7" was released, leaving a short but lasting mark on the New York punk scene.
