Red Cross (S/T EP + Bonus)

It's been really hot lately; here in my neck of the woods. The thermometer's hit triple digits the last two days; so I thought I would post something with a summer feel to it. Even though it's not the same line-up; I included a Bonus track I've always liked from The American Youth Report.
Red Cross were from Hawthorne, California; they formed around 1980, and this was their first E.P. Band members on this EP were: Jeff McDonald, (Vocals) Steve McDonald, (Bass) Greg Hetson, (Guitar) and Ron Reyes, (Drums). I believe at the time this was recorded, the McDonald brothers were fairly young. As I'm sure most of you already know; Greg Hetson, went on to the Circle Jerks, and eventually Bad Religion; and Ron Reyes, (Chavo) went on to Black Flag. I guess not too long after this EP the band changed the spelling of their name to avoid legal action. Red Kross are still around; If you would like to read more about them, you can check out this Wikipedia Page, as well as their Official Website.

Love this early L.A. Punk stuff. It reminds me of the KROQ Rodney on the ROQ days for those that grew up in Los Angeles. Thanks for posting this.

I think this is one of the (top five anyway) punk records ever released...it's like the Reagan Youth 12" a few years later - no waste just pure raw energy and enough hooks to fill most bands entire discography...and they were about 16 (I think the drummer was actually 13...)

Thanks for the comment, it's hard to go wrong with any of the early L.A. stuff.

Hi there. Nice post. As for the sleeve: you got that wrong. The red label version in the generic sleeve (as used for all Posh Boy 12" releases at the time)came first. The red sleeve version with silver labels is the second press & was released the mid 80s.

Your right, honestly this is the only copy of this record that I've ever had.I thought I read once this was the second press. I checked it out, and stand corrected. That's cool, all these years I though I had a second press. Thanks for the info!
