LYRES THE BOX SET

I wasn't sure how this site would work out, or if I would have time to keep it up. But so far I'm still having fun . I wish there was a little more interaction from the people downloading my records , but I'm cool with it for now . I decided to pay for mediafire , It,s easier for me and you, so enjoy not having commercials . I can't believe that I've posted 100 records already. I wanted to do something special, so I thought about it for a while and decided this would be a cool post. If you are a fan of the Lyres like I am than besides the how do you know single, (which was posted earlier ) it really doesn't get much better than this. This box set contains most of their best early stuff . It's on the french new rose records label . It's numbered, mine is 1718 of 3000. and all three records come on different colored vinyl. (buried alive 12" ep 1981 on green , on fyre lp 1982 on red , and the someone who'll treat you right now 12" ep 1985 on clear) Their all licensed from ace of hearts records. Every time I here the song buried alive, it makes me think of a local college radio show from my area called buried alive that spun garage records through the 80's and 90's . That show turned me on to allot of great stuff . The show used to open with the song buried alive. The Lyres are a Boston-area alternative rock musical group led by Jeff "Monoman" Conolly. Lyres were founded in 1979 following the breakup of DMZ. Their most popular songs included "What A Girl Can't Do" and "Help You Ann". The original lineup of the band featured DMZ guitarist J.J. Rassler.
Former DMZ members Rassler, Rick Coraccio, Paul Murphy, and Peter Greenberg had rejoined Connolly in Lyres over the course of their existence (from 1979 to the early 2000s) . Miriam Linna, former drummer of The Cramps and The A-Bones, played in Lyres in 1986. Stiv Bators of The Dead Boys and Lords of the New Church, and Wally Tax of The Outsiders also recorded with Lyres in the late 1980s.
Lyres were less active in the 1990s, due to Conolly living in California and in Europe for brief periods of time. After a renewed period of activity in the early 2000s, the band went through another dormant period up until 2005. The band has been playing regularly during the last two years and sound as strong as ever. Given the large number of personnel changes that Lyres have gone through over the years - Conolly is the only member who has been in every lineup - the band will always be around in some form.

Nice box set, I am putting a show on with Lyres in January in Cambridge, which isn't really such a big deal....but I enjoy them a bunch and Jeff is always fun to hang out with.

I never met Jeff, I'm sure he would be a trip. If I was closer I'd come out to your show. All the best Mike!!
