The Singles ( Play It ! )

The Singles were a four piece from Santa Cruz, California. The band formed in 1982 and disbanded by 85. This appears to be their only record, with a pressing of less than 500. If you want to read more about the band; the Cheap Rewards Blog did a nice piece on them a few years back.

Line Up -

Rick Gallego - Lead Vocals, Guitar
Marque Kelsey - Lead Guitar, Vocals
Shawn Andrews - Bass
David Townley - Drums

Big Cheese Records 1983

1. Lookin' Round For You
2. Nicole
3. Sheena's Got A New Hero
4. Just Another Girl

Hi Frank! Love your blog. Just wanted to let you know that the RAR for this post might be damaged. I tried downloading it twice, just to make sure, but both my un-archiving tools told me it was damaged.

Thanks Pernt,

Not sure what happened but thanks for the heads up. I believe everything's fixed now.

Take Care,
Frank

Wow! It's Christmas on September 18th. I was a teenager during the power-pop era of the late 70's/early 80's. A year ago I heard the Singles on youtube and considered it better than anything I grew up with (no airplay of the Singles in my southern home town at that time). But oh man, the quality on those youtube clips left a lot to be desired. For a year, I've been searching for better quality files.
Thank you!

You're welcome, the records production isn't the best but it more than makes up for it, with great songs. Enjoy!

Frank, it worked like a charm. Thanks so much. Looking forward to giving the tunes an electronic spin!

Not bad!!! Kinda Plimsouls-y at times, never heard this one before!!! Nice to see where future Cloud Eleven guy Rick Gallego started out......
