A Taste Of The Prisoners

a re-post by request, new download links, originally posted 11-19-12.
Since I've had numerous requests for Prisoners re post's, I'm doing away with my three earlier post's and combine them into one. Basically, I recorded a bunch of my favorite tracks from various releases, all ripped from good old vinyl, except a couple from "In From The Cold", and a bonus track from the CD version of A Taste Of Pink". My copy of "A Taste Of Pink" is on pink vinyl, and although it looks mint, it has a little snap crackle to it; oh well, it adds to the charm. I added a couple of tunes from the awesome Prime Movers Lp as well. It's a large file so I had to break it into two parts, I also added the cover scans to the downloads as well, "Enjoy"
The Prisoners were a three piece from the Medway region of southern England that formed in 1980.They took the name from fellow Medway band the Vapours first single 'Prisoners'. The original line up consisted of 16 years old's, Graham Day (guitar, vocals), Allan Crockford (bass) and Johnny Symons (drums). Bruce Brand from the Milkshakes was with the group briefly as a second Guitarist, but it wasn't until 1982 when James Taylor (Organ) was added to the line up when they officially became a four piece. In all The Prisoners released at least four full lengths, four singles, and contributed numerous compilation tracks before calling it a day sometime around 1986. Besides the Prime Movers a few other post Prisoners related bands include: Planet, The Solarflares, Graham Day and the Gaolers, Gift Horses, Thee Mighty Caesars, The Buff Medways, Galileo 7, The Stabilisers and The James Taylor Quartet. If you would like to read more about the band's here's a few links to get you started.

The Ecstatics (Sound Of Breaking Glass Single)

I hope all of you had a great holiday and I wish you all a Healthy, Happy, Prosperous, 2018!
I found very little info online about The Ecstatics but judging from where this was recorded, I'm guessing they were a New York area band?
Breaking glass is a solid Powerpop tune with vocal stylings reminiscent of Peter Perrett, of the Only Ones.

Spike - Bass
Mike Burke - Drums

The Windows (Don't Hang Up Single)

The Windows were a Tennessee four piece that formed in 1980. They released this single and a full length titled "Runnin' Alone" in 1987. Despite opening for the likes of: Peter Frampton, Hall and Oates and Jefferson Starship; The Windows never broke through nationally and eventually called it quits in the mid 90's. If you would like to read more about the band, I found THIS website you can check out.

The Propellors were a Forest Hills, Queens based four piece. I found an appearance from 1980 on The Uncle Floyd show; you can check it out Here. They show a picture sleeve for this single but Jimmy McElligott informed me, it was a mock sleeve that never went to print.

Sorry for my long absence.

Man, I can't believe it's been four months since my last post. So much for being more active this year, I've had a extremely trying, busy, last four months. For starters, I sold my house. I spent allot of time and money, getting it ready to sell. Unfortunately, the drainage field of my septic system failed during inspections; causing me to have to hook the home up to the sewer, to sell it. In the end, it cost me 20,000 dollars.
I found a new home but unfortunately I got caught in the middle of a nasty divorce. I'm not going into everything I went through but buying my new home turned into quite an ordeal. Since then, I've been spending all of my time and money, working on my new home. It's taken me this long to have a little free time. Although I still have much to do; my intentions are to get the blog going again. Bare with me a little while longer. It will be worth the wait. I still have piles of great records to post. By the way....Moving my record collection, really Sucked!!!

The Aristocrats ( My Date Single)

Here's a cool slab of Keyboard driven Powerpop for ya. Catchy tunes, great harmonies and snappy drum work, make this platter a must.
The Aristocrats, originally a three piece from Harrisburg, PA formed in 1979. This, their only offering was self released.
