Device (Make It Last Single)

a repost by request, originally posted 6-26-11, new rips and scans, enjoy!
I stumbled upon this while browsing Ebay 9 years ago, (I can't believe it's been that long already, lol). A most excellent seller was kind enough to have a sample for previewing. The song, "Is It Ever Gonna Change" instantly sunk its hooks into my brain; and I decided I had to have it. It rose to around $70.00, and unfortunately, I had to let it go. A couple of weeks went by and to my surprise I found another one for sale. This time however, it went for half the price, and it became mine. I'm doing all this rambling, because there's absolutely no information to be found on this band what so ever. There's not even a date on the record. So, unless any of you have any information on this great record; I guess it will remain a mystery. Even after all this time, I still can't find anything on this one; except a Popsike, Ebay, listing that claims it's midwestern, from 1981? The names on the record are: S. Harcus, Z. Levesque, S. Glazer.

CTS Records 1981?

1. Make It Last
2. Is It Ever Gonna Change

Thanks for the comment Bruce; I'm not sure how rare it is, but I found it twice in a month, so maybe it will pop up.

Steve Harcus sang and played guitar; he had been in the (American) Beat, and hooked up with Saul Glazer (bass) in Madison in the early 80s. He was/is a brilliant songwriter and Device was a tight power-pop band that recorded at least an albums' worth of material before they broke up.

Device was formed in the Fall of 1981 in Madison, Wisconsin and lasted a few years, although we had a live reunion 10 years ago, and we all get together about once a year to play. Steve Harcus guitar and vocals on the 45. Steve wrote Ever Change right after Lennon was killed. Steve played keyboards in the Paul Collins Beat just before the first Beat record. The drummer is Norman Levesque. Steve and I play acoustic jazz these days every couple weeks, but just in his living room. 45 was recorded at Hedden West in Schaumburg, Illinois in February 1982. 24 track analog.
