THE AMBER SQUAD (I CAN'T PUT MY FINGER ON YOU)

Both of the Amber Squad singles are great and well worth having . Formed in Leicster in Early 1980, the band played a mixture of Pop, Rock, punk and ska. They were on the Radio 1 play list, and featured on the John Peel show, as well as Mike Read’s Round Table. They went on to release two singles, the first being “(I can’t) put my finger on you” and the second, Can we go dancing?. This debut single was released on the “S & T” label (aka “Sound of Leicester”) in 1980.

This has always been one of my favorite hardcore records. It's blistering fast and really well played . The song's blow by so quick, it leaves you wanting more . C.I.A. Were A great hardcore punk band formed in the early 1980s from Connecticut. They released one ep (God, Guts, Guns - Shmegma Records, 1983) and one lp (C.I.A. - Incas Records, 1984) and appeared on several compilations. Members went on to form 76% uncertain . I was turned on to these guy's over at the POWERPOP OVERDOSE . I bought the vinyl version and It came with this disc which has 3 bonus tracks including a great cover of the Prisoners Mourn My Health . This is one of my favorite albums at the moment . They sound like a punked up version of the early Who .The Len Price 3 are a garage pop band hailing from the Medway Towns. Their sound is forged in the Medway tradition, fusing driving energy, catchy hooks and a raw 60's garage sound
. On disc and at live shows The Len Price 3 offer a truly memorable and invigorating sonic experience. GARY VALENTINE (THE FIRST ONE)

This info from his myspace pretty much say's it all . This is one of the all time great pop records .Gary Valentine was one of the founding members of Blondie, having joined the band in 1975, and wrote the music and lyrics to the band's first single, X-Offender, but was replaced in 1977 by Nigel Harrison, just as the band were starting to gain recognition. After Blondie, Gary moved to L.A. and formed The Know with a few members of The Mumps. He claims that The Know were the first band to play the infamous Madame Wong's Chinese restaurant-turned-punk venue. Shortly after that he played guitar with Iggy Pop. Much later, Gary formed Fire Escape with his current girlfriend and performed songs he had written for the Blondie reunion album (they had not been used due to the band ultimately excluding him from the recording process and the reunion tour). They released an EP to little fanfare and went on a permanent hiatus after two years. A compilation of Gary's work in music entitled Tomorrow Belongs to You, was released in 2003 on the UK label Overground Records. In 2006 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

GANG GREEN (SOLD OUT)

I think this was Gang Green's first single , I could be wrong . At any rate, It's a monster hardcore record . Years ago when I first heard these guy's I was blown away . I couldn't believe how fast and tight they were . Their original drummer was unbelievable . Gang Green is a hardcore punk band originally from Braintree, Massachusetts. The first incarnation of the band consisted of 15 year olds Chris Doherty, Mike Dean, and Bill Manley and contributed seven tracks to the This Is Boston, Not L.A. compilation in 1982.
That same year the group disbanded and lead singer Chris Doherty joined the band Jerry's Kids for their album Is This My World? In 1985 Doherty reemerged with an all new Gang Green lineup consisting of himself (vocals, guitar), Chuck Stilphen (guitar, vocals), Glen Stilphen (bass, vocals) and Walter Gustafson (drums). This second lineup is the most famous nationally as it was both the first to tour and the one that recorded the songs "Alcohol" and "Skate to Hell". This edition of Gang Green released the Another Wasted Night LP on Taang! Records in 1986. This record is considered to be the band's best recording and was a defining moment in Boston punk in the 1980's.
By 1987, when they were signed by Roadrunner Records the band’s musical style had come to lean more toward heavy metal and the personnel of the band, save Doherty, had changed completely. This incarnation of Gang Green consisted of Doherty, Fritz Erickson (guitar), Joe Gittleman (bass) and former Jerry's Kids drummer Brian Betzger. In 1989 Gittleman left to devote more time to The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and was replaced by Josh Pappe, formerly of Dirty Rotten Imbeciles

LYRES THE BOX SET

I wasn't sure how this site would work out, or if I would have time to keep it up. But so far I'm still having fun . I wish there was a little more interaction from the people downloading my records , but I'm cool with it for now . I decided to pay for mediafire , It,s easier for me and you, so enjoy not having commercials . I can't believe that I've posted 100 records already. I wanted to do something special, so I thought about it for a while and decided this would be a cool post. If you are a fan of the Lyres like I am than besides the how do you know single, (which was posted earlier ) it really doesn't get much better than this. This box set contains most of their best early stuff . It's on the french new rose records label . It's numbered, mine is 1718 of 3000. and all three records come on different colored vinyl. (buried alive 12" ep 1981 on green , on fyre lp 1982 on red , and the someone who'll treat you right now 12" ep 1985 on clear) Their all licensed from ace of hearts records. Every time I here the song buried alive, it makes me think of a local college radio show from my area called buried alive that spun garage records through the 80's and 90's . That show turned me on to allot of great stuff . The show used to open with the song buried alive. The Lyres are a Boston-area alternative rock musical group led by Jeff "Monoman" Conolly. Lyres were founded in 1979 following the breakup of DMZ. Their most popular songs included "What A Girl Can't Do" and "Help You Ann". The original lineup of the band featured DMZ guitarist J.J. Rassler.
Former DMZ members Rassler, Rick Coraccio, Paul Murphy, and Peter Greenberg had rejoined Connolly in Lyres over the course of their existence (from 1979 to the early 2000s) . Miriam Linna, former drummer of The Cramps and The A-Bones, played in Lyres in 1986. Stiv Bators of The Dead Boys and Lords of the New Church, and Wally Tax of The Outsiders also recorded with Lyres in the late 1980s.
Lyres were less active in the 1990s, due to Conolly living in California and in Europe for brief periods of time. After a renewed period of activity in the early 2000s, the band went through another dormant period up until 2005. The band has been playing regularly during the last two years and sound as strong as ever. Given the large number of personnel changes that Lyres have gone through over the years - Conolly is the only member who has been in every lineup - the band will always be around in some form.

THE FIRST THINGS FIRST THINGS FIRST

This is another one of those records that I couldn't find any info on . I can tell you that this band appears to be from Champaign, IL, and this record was on a label called skid records and was from 1982 . I couldn't find any info on the label either. I cant say I ever knew anyone else that had this record. I always liked it. The first track has a cool bass line. I'm not gonna ramble anymore, just download it and listen for yourself. If anyone has any info on these guy's please feel free to share it with us.

THE VICTIMS E.P. (NO THANKS TO THE HUMAN TURD)

I just recently picked this up. Of course I knew of it for years, but it never crossed my path . At least not for a price that I could afford . So this repro is the next best thing. Its such a classic record I had to include it on my site . The Victims were a punk band from Perth, Western Australia, active in 1977-79. The band's members were Dave Flick (Dave Faulkner) on guitar and vocals, James Baker (drums) and Rudolph V (Dave Cardwell) on bass.
Baker and Cardwell had both been members of The Geeks, formed in early 1977 with Ross Buncle on guitar and a vocalist known as Lloyd. That band folded when Baker and Cardwell left to form The Victims with Faulkner, who then referred to himself as Dave Flick. The Geeks' repertoire of original songs formed the core of the Victims' initial repertoire.
In 1977, The Victims released their debut single, "Television Addict" (Faulkner/Baker)/"I'm Flipped Out Over You" (Baker/Buncle), of which only 1,000 copies were pressed. The following year they released an EP entitled simply The Victims (also known as No Thanks to the Human Turd), which included five tracks: "I Understand", "Open Your Eyes", "TV Freak", "High School Girls" and "Disco Junkies". Baker was one of the writers of these songs; the identity of his co-composer is disputed, with some sources claiming that it was Faulkner and others Buncle. Only 500 copies of the EP were released.
Baker went on to play in the first lineups of The Hoodoo Gurus and The Scientists. Faulkner was also a founding member of The Hoodoo Gurus.

THE FALL OUTS/ NIGHTKINGS SPLIT

I really couldn't find much on the Nightking's, but mainly I posted this single for the fallout's track. This was one of my favorite bands through the 90's. Unfortunately I never got to see them live. I bet they were a great live band . I have just about everything from them, and I think they were one of the more underrated bands from the 90's. This is a great cover track of the Cuby and the blizzards tune . Seattle punk-poppers the Fallouts never got the glory of compatriots like the Young Fresh Fellows, Mudhoney, or even the Fastbacks or Flop, largely because they were a part-time concern throughout their career. Impressively, they managed to maintain nearly the same lineup throughout: Dave Holmes on guitar and vocals, Shannon McConnell on bass, and Dino Lencioni on drums. (McConnell quit the group for a couple of years in the early '90s; Mudhoney's Steve Turner filled in on bass until McConnell decided to rejoin in 1993, and also signed the group to his own Super-Electro label.)The Fallouts played locally for a couple of years before finally getting around to making a recording, an untitled eight-song demo cassette. Two years later, the Fallouts made their vinyl debut with the Here I Come EP, followed a year later with the Don't Want the Sun EP. These EPs, plus assorted other early songs, including tracks from that demo cassette, were finally released on CD as Here I Come and Other Hits on Estrus in 1993. The year before that, the group, with Turner on bass, had recorded their self-titled full-length debut. A second album, Sleep, followed in 1995. Following the release of Sleep, the Fall-Outs went back onto part-time status, at one point going several years between gigs, but the band returned to the studio in 2003, with new bassist Zaac Aubrey in tow, to record a new album, Summertime.

THE BIZARROS

I really like the B side of this single. It has a great dark sound to it . I remember these guys had a split 12" with the rubber city rebels, a full length album, a comp track or two , and numerous singles. From the streets of the Akron rubber factories to center stage at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Bizarros have proven that they can, in fact, fight their way uptown. Fueling the Akron music scene in the late 1970s with songs like I, Bizarro and Laser Boys, the quintet meshed raw punk energy with new wave. Lyrics range from more lighthearted pop culture references - comic book villains and white screen movies - to more introspective and philosophical verses.
Friends since grade school, the original lineup included lead vocalist Nick Nicholis, guitarist Jerry Parkins, bassist Don Parkins, drummer Rick Garberson and guitarist/keyboardist Terry Walker. Their music first materialized in the form of an album in 1976 on Gorilla Records. Nicholis went on to create the independent label, Clone Records, through which the next two releases were distributed. Four subsequent releases followed, the last in 1981. It looks like these guy's are still around in some form. Go check them out.

THE RED BUTTON (SHE'S ABOUT TO CROSS MY MIND)

This disc stayed in my cd player for quite a while. It's great 60's inspires pop. After you hear this I know you will want to go to their myspace and buy it from them. The link is at the bottom of the page . The Red Button is made up of Los Angeles-based singer-songwriters Seth Swirsky and Mike Ruekberg. Seth has written hit songs for dozens of artists over the years ranging from Rufus Wainwright ("Instant Pleasure") to Al Green (“Love Is A Beautiful Thing”), Jane Weidlin (of The Go-Gos), Tina Turner, Taylor Dayne ("Tell it to My Heart") and many others. His solo album, Instant Pleasure, was named Best Pop Album at the 2005 L.A. Music Awards. He's also created three popular books consisting of handwritten letters from baseball players. Mike was the writer and singer for the Minneapolis-based pop-rockers Rex Daisy, who recorded a much-admired CD for Geffen Records with producer Paul Fox (XTC). A highly, sought-after L.A. session singer and musician, Mike also wrote the soundtrack to the Indie cult film Dummy (starring Adrien Brody) which plays on cable TV frequently. When they met in 2005, Seth and Mike discovered a shared love of melodic pop songs. So, they started writing together and 11 songs later, She’s About To Cross My Mind, was born. Almost immediately praise from the pop critics poured in. David Bash, founder of the International Pop Overthrow Music Festival said that Seth and Mike “can now wear their rightful crown as the (Peter) Holsapple and (Chris) Stamey of the new millennium”, while Goldmine Magazine’s John Borack called their songs “pop music the way God and Paul McCartney must have intended.”

THE VOPO,S (DEAD ENTERTAINMENT)

The Vopo's were a great dutch punk band that formed sometime around 1978. After 3 years of playing nearly every squat, youth center and underground venue in Holland they released a single and this record. In my opinion this is a very underrated punk record. I love the Thirteenth floor elevators cover. How they pulled their version from the original still blows me away. After this they changed and became more metal. I think their still around to this day in some form. I'll give you the link to their official site at the bottom. go check them out.

THE SWINGIN NECKBREAKERS (ICE WATER SINGLE)

This record has a different version of ice water. My copy is 85 of 500 and is on blue vinyl. I must have seen these guys at least 10 times through the 90's, and let me tell you they put on one hell of a live show . Brothers Tom and John Jorgensen had been champing at the bit to go out and do some rock 'n' roll damage for years. However, the odds on finding like-minded rabble rousers in their neck of the woods were against them. The duo recorded some home demos, and played a couple of obscure gigs here and there with different names and band members, until they adopted Don "Shaggy" Snook. John Jorgensen moved from guitar to drums, handing the six-string seat to Shaggy, while Tom continued to play bass and scream. In the spring of 1992 the trio recorded some demos, which they passed on to Maxwell's booking impressario and Telstar Records chief Todd Abramson at a Lyres/A-Bones gig at the Hoboken, New Jersey, club in the hopes of securing a gig there. Abramson liked what he heard so much that they not only got a gig, but an offer to go into the studio and record for Telstar. These sessions resulted in the band's first release, "Diggin' A Grave" (Telstar 008). The three song 7" offered a promising glimpse of the future. The Neckbreakers began doing local gigs, starting with a Lyres/Rising Storm show at Maxwell's that brought the band to the attention of many local hipsters.

THE STIMULATORS (LOUD FAST RULES !)

The Stimulators were one of the last great punk bands in New York City before Hardcore/Thrash took over. The Stimulators played fast, but kept a tight melodic bite in the catchy, feisty songs. "Loud, Fast Rules," the song for which they're most remembered, is a rousing blast of energy with sing-along lyrics and a sharp, compact sound that goes straight to the center of your brain. Their later work wandered into the thrashier side of Punk and their drummer, Harley Flanagan, went on to start the Cro-Mags. Aside from their appearance on the Roir Records compilation New York Thrash, they released one 7" single (now a highly prized collectors item and a helluva record to this day) as well as a live tape, also on Roir. The Stimulators broke up right around the time the 7" was released, leaving a short but lasting mark on the New York punk scene.

THE SONS OF HERCULES

I couldn't really find much info on this band, other than their from SAN ANTONIO, Texas. They have a site that has a bio link which yielded nothing. I think their a great blend of garage and 70's style punk. I haven't heard a record from them yet that I didn't like . Anyway this is what their myspace said. Ask any connoisseur of classic late-60's/early-70's fuzzed-out, guitar-driven backstreet rock-n-roll (ie: MC5, New York Dolls, The Stooges, etc), and they'll likely tell you that Texas' Sons Of Hercules are one of the mightiest bands on earth.... Fueled by the sneering charisma of veteran vocalist Frank Pugliese(Ex Mystery Dates), San Antonio’s Sons of Hercules are no-nonsense artisans of raw-powered garage rock, knocking out stellar slabs of Nuggets-flavored noise that would’ve gotten them on Bandstand 40 years ago!

THE SHOUTLESS (INSANE SINGLE)

This is one great garage record . I think the cover of Escapades I tell no lies was on the ROIR cassette garage sale . THE SHOUTLESS are probably the most unfamous band from Sweden today. Hailing from Solna, the now semi-legendary place outside Stockholm, and maybe THE centre of todays so called garagemusic, Their very first 45, called "INSANE", had just about everybody in ecstasy, both in Sweden and abroad, from the local "Solna-Sundbybergstidningen" to internationally known mags like "Bucketfull of Brains".

THE FLAMING SIDEBURNS (SKY PILOTS)

I saw these guy's live in New York once and came away very impressed . Live I thought they came off sounding more punk with a garage edge . They had a pretty funny stage show, all lining up and dipping their guitars back and forth in unison . This album is a little more rock oriented, but I think it's the best studio stuff I've heard from them . The Flaming Sideburns are a rock band that was formed in Helsinki, Finland in 1995. Most of the members are Finnish, but lead vocalist Eduardo Martinez is an Argentine expatriate. They released their first single Close to Disaster in 1997 and soon signed to Danish label Bad Afro who released a compilation It's Time to Testify in 1999 and debut album Hallelujah Rock'n'Rollah in 2001. Second album Sky Pilots followed on Ranch Records in 2003. Both albums were also released in the United States on Jetset Records. Third album Keys to the Highway was released early 2007.

SOCIAL UNREST (MAKING ROOM FOR YOUTH)

All time great hardcore record!! The album rat in a maze is also a must . These guy's appear to still be around . Go check out their myspace , the link is at the bottom of the post. On the borderline of 1978/1979 spawned Social UnRest. The original line-up formed as Doug Logic (guitar), John Vollick (bass), Danny "Radio Shack" Norwood (guitar), Mark "Manslaughter" Monti(drums) and Creetin K-oS (a.k.a. Jason) on vocals. By early 1980, we were playing S.F. shows, as well as out of town. They recorded their debut 7" produced by Dead Kennedys guitarist East Bay Ray, and pressed up 500 copies of "Making Room For Youth" in the autumn 1981, backed up by "Join The People Who Joined The Army" and "Rush Hour" on the flip. This debut showcased a sharp unit with great promise, and an intense approach for it's time with catchy and memorable songs. Creetin's faux-Anglicised snarl and the fuzzy chopping guitars where influenced by the bands of the day. It's a real feeling of satisfaction to know that original $2.00 price of this 7" has accrued value beyond it¹s four minute length over the years. All in all SU has realeased 7 records and been featured on various compilations.

ROACH MOTEL (ROACH AND ROLL)

What can you say about this record, well I'll sum it up with one word, "classic" 1980, Gainesville, FL - Roach Motel play their first gig, opening up for the Bazookas at a tiny dive for about six people and a toothless bartender. A legend is born.1984 - After an illustrious career during which the boys find a real drummer; tour with Black Flag, Minor Threat and Suicidal Tendencies; play with Dead Kennedys, CH3, the Necros and others, get lucky, release four records (including the mind-blowing punk compilation, "We Can't Help it if We're from Florida" and their debut "Roach & Roll", both of which are highly sought-after collector's items), the band finally implodes from the pressures of fame, money, and punk cred. In a haze of booze, broads, and Percodan, the members scatter across the US. While browsing around , I came across a cd that seems to compile most of their work. If you cant find the records at least you can still hear their stuff . Go look for it !

THE MIRACLE WORKERS

This is one great snotty garage record . definitely one of my favorites . Most of their stuff is worth having, especially the first two albums. The Miracle Workers were a rock and roll band in the 1980s, who began as a garage rock revival band in Portland, Oregon. The band formed in January 1982 by Gerry Mohr (vocals), and Joel Barnett (bass guitar). The original guitarist and drummer, who were friends of Gerry's, but weren't interested in garage rock, left the band early on. Matt Rogers, a friend of Joel's, became the guitarist. Ron Sheridan became the drummer, though would later leave to pursue a business career. The band stabilized in 1984, with the addition of Dan Demiankow (guitar, organ), and Gene Trautmann (drums).
The Miracle Workers lineup in 1986 became Gerry Mohr (vocals), Matt Rogers (guitar), Robert Butler (bass), and Gene Trautmann (drums). Miracle Workers, was a four-song EP on Moxie Records, released in 1984. Line up was Gerry Mohr, Joel Barnett, Matt Rogers, Danny Demiankow, and a short term drummer, Jeff Grassi In the Spring of 1986, the band decided to move to Los Angeles. Joel Barnett left the band at that time. Robert Butler, from The Untold Fables, became the bass player and Dan Demiankow quit over musical differences. Due to problems with drug use by some members of the band, they split up in 1992.

THE URGES (PSYCH WARD)

This is one of the best garage records that I heard in a long time. If you like 80's sounding garage then this is definitely for you!!! Born out of suburban frustration The Urges started out in a damp Dublin garage in late 2004. With little or no musical knowledge they set out to write nothing but raw stripped down rock 'n' roll. Since then they have enjoyed the success of their debut single '(Around &) Around Again' which topped the Irish charts in the summer of 2005 and have played along side many big named bands such as The Zutons, The La's, Wild Billy Childish, Paul Weller, Ocean Colour Scene, The Buzzcocks, Babyshambles, Kulashaker and just about every major garage band since the 60's (The Electric Prunes, The Remains, The Cynics, The Pretty Things). They have been included on a number of compilations with the likes of The Hives, 5678's, The Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Chesterfield Kings & have spent the last two years playing festivals throughout Europe including Oxygen (David Bowie, The Strokes, P.J. Harvey, The Kings of Leon) and the notorious Primitive Festival in Rotterdam, Holland (Von Bondies, The Mighty Ceasars, The Chesterfield Kings) as well as being invited to play Cavestomp in New York alongside such legends as The Sonics, The Alarm Clocks, Strawberry Alarm Clock & The Lyres. The Urges sound can be traced as far back as the mid 60's where primal fuzztone and psychedelic organ kicked of real rock 'n' roll - all the way up to the present day where indie garage rock could not be a more domineering musical force. When it comes to live shows The Urges don't resort to filling a set with pagiarized riffs & shoe gazing, their performances are both primal & chaotic emanating a threat of violence which makes the men stand back & makes the girls step forward! The Urges effortlessly drift in and out of different timings & melodies but constantly maintain an authentic yet primitive sound which always leaves the crowd crying for more. Having spent the last two years honing their sound The Urges have managed to capture this on their debut album. "A new generation of teenage psych-punk bands is hitting the scene these days and the leaders of this movement are without any doubt the amazing Urges, which 'Psych ward' proves impressively. They can be best described as the missing link between those old titans of the 60's, such as the Music Machine, the Seeds and the Electric Prunes and the 'Paisley Underground' of the 80's with bands like the Morlocks, Fuzztones and Miracle Workers. In fuzz we trust!!!" -Soundflat Records

THE SMITHEREENS (BEAUTY AND SADNESS)

Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi get all the notoriety when people mention rock acts from New Jersey. But, for my money the Smithereens are more deserving. I was lucky enough to see them in New York City once and I don't know if I just saw them on a good night . But let me tell you, their studio stuff as great as it is don't do them justice. They were like a sonic wall of guitar power and melody wrapped up in one . They blew me away, and I became an instant fan!!! This is what Wikipedia had to say. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beauty_and_Sadness The Smithereens are a rock band from Carteret, New Jersey, United States. The group, formed in 1980, has consisted of Pat DiNizio (vocals & guitar), Jim Babjak (guitar & vocals), Mike Mesaros (bass guitar & vocals), and Dennis Diken (drums & percussion) until 2006, when Mike parted ways with the band. Severo "The Thrilla" Jornacion currently fills his spot.
The Smithereens are known for writing and playing catchy 1960s-influenced power pop. The group gained some publicity when a single from its first album, "Blood and Roses", was included on the soundtrack for, and as the theme song of the 1986 Albert Pyun movie, Dangerously Close, and the video got some moderately heavy rotation on MTV. The group spent some time in its initial semi-celebrity phase defending itself in Rolling Stone against thinly-veiled accusations of sounding too much like The Byrds and The Beatles, pointing out that its Marshall Amplifier-heavy live sound was closer to heavy metal than it was to The Beatles. The Smithereens have always worn their inspirations proudly, The group, which has long had a reputation for playing excellent live shows, is still active and tours frequently. Their next studio album is expected to be released in early 2009.

THE CLOROX GIRLS

The Clorox Girls were formed in 2003 in Oakland, CA, when guitarist and singer Justin Maurer met drummer Clay Silva while both were both living in a punk rock squat mostly populated by doom-struck crust punks. Tired of the gloomy and abrasive music they were hearing day and night, Justin and Clay decided to form a band that paid homage to their love of poppy old-school punk (they took their name from a tune on Redd Kross' first EP, when they were still known as Red Cross), first-generation rock & roll, and smart '60s pop from England and France. Justin's girlfriend Jennique was recruited to play bass, and the Clorox Girls started playing Bay Area clubs. After a short tour up and down the West Coast, Jonny Cat Records released the band's first record, a four-song vinyl 7"; by the time the record hit stores, Jennique was out of the band, and a guy named Morgan stepped in to take over on bass, only to be quickly replaced by Zack Lewis. The Clorox Girls also pulled up stakes, making Portland, OR, their new base of operations. After plenty of frantic touring through the U.S. and Canada, SmartGuy Records released the Clorox Girls' self-titled 2004 debut album, produced by former Fastbacks leader Kurt Bloch; the album quickly sold out its first pressing, and a second press was gone by the time the band finished their next tour. This info came from http://www.answers.com/topic/clorox-girls They also have a myspace http://www.myspace.com/cloroxgirls Go check them out!!!!! buy their records and support them . A great newer punk band to say the least!!

THE BEAT (TO BEAT OR NOT TO BEAT)

For me, this is not the Beats best record . But, it contains one of my favorite beat songs . All over the world is a great song and that alone makes this worth having and posting. The Beat, sometimes referred to as The Paul Collins Beat or Paul Collins' Beat, were an American power pop group from Los Angeles, California that formed in the late 1970s. The Beat resurfaced in the 1990s and continues to tour and record new material as Paul Collins' Beat. The roots of The Beat lie in The Nerves, a seminal power pop combo featuring Paul Collins, Peter Case (the future frontman of The Plimsouls), and Jack Lee. Collins played the drums; all three members composed and sang. Collins contributed one song, "Working Too Hard", to the group's only release, a 1976 self-titled four-song EP distributed by independent Bomp! Records. "The Beat"released this 5 song 12" Mini-Album To Beat or Not To Beat in 1983 on the independent Jem/Passport label in the U.S.. One song from the album, "Dance, Dance", was made into a music video in 1984 and received limited exposure on MTV. To Beat or Not To Beat, with an additional song, was released in Europe where the group relocated (and would remain for the next several years). In 1989 due to numerous personnel changes and a lack of interest in the group stateside, the band threw in the towel, calling it quits altogether.
