PLASTIC IDOLS (EINSTEIN EXPERIENCE EP)

Houston's Plastic Idols seem to have been around from 1978 to some time in the early 80's. They had two singles of which I believe this was the second, and a great track on the are we too late for the trend comp. There's also a cd out there called the Plastic Idols : Singles, Demos & Live: Houston Punk '78-'80. Unfortunately I really couldn't find anything else about these guy's. As for the record it's another one of my favorites. I think the solo in Einstein Experience rates right up there as one of the best solos on a punk record. I put it up there with the great Greg Ginn solos on some of the early Black Flag records. The lyrics of uncircumcised twin are really funny. He always gets ahead cause he's got a little extra. Classic stuff!!!

THE NEAT (HORMONES IN ACTION SINGLE)

I'd like to thank Chris, and Bruce, from the great My Lifes A Jigsaw Blog for the info here. Originally called Acropolis,The Neat hailed from leeds in 1978. This was their lone 45, and was recorded in April 79, 1000 copies sold. They broke up in the early 80's, although the nucleus of the band metamorphosed in to Zed warren six, who released a 45 on mjb records.

Sadly, David Parkinson, who played synths, wrote and produced the great Powerpop classic "Hormones In Action", died on August the 17th, 2010. Before his involvement with The Neat, David had a band called the "Sneakers", who released one single. He was also involved with bands such as; the "Mirror Boys", and "Zoo Boutique" which featured Davids then wife Emmie and a solo single released on the Ariola label under the name "Cuba". David eventually gave up music for teaching.
This information was emailed to me by Davids good freind, Chris Marshall, who at the time was in the process of getting a tribute together for the Bradford newspaper, The Telegraph and Argus, on Sept. 9th.

THE TRANZMITORS (12"EP)

I have been wanting to post a record from these guy's for a while. They have a number of singles and a lp to there credit. They are all definitely worth owning. This new ep is great !! my favorite tracks are live a little more and they totally nailed a cover of the Moondogs powerpop classic who's gonna tell mary. Great stuff!! Formed in the winter of 2004, The Tranzmitors came together to fill a much-overlooked void in the rock 'n' roll scene in Vancouver, BC. Containing ex- and current members of The Smugglers, The New Town Animals and The Parallels, the power pop combo take their musical cues from bands like The Buzzcocks, The Undertones and The Exploding Hearts. They've shared stages with The Clorox Girls, The Spits, The Pointed Sticks and Fucked Up among others and have released records that have won over the critics at Terminal Boredom, Razorcake, Exclaim and Maximum Rockandroll magazines. Go pick this up at!!!!!Deranged Records!!!!! the link is below.

THE GOVERMENT EP

For the most part I'm posting this record for one song. Flat Tire has always been a favorite with me and amongst my circle of friends. Give it a listen, it will sink into your blood as well. The Government was a band from Toronto active in the late 1970s. They became well known on the Toronto Queen Street club circuit, playing such venues as The Crash And Burn, The Edge, Larry's Hideaway and The Beverley Tavern and the Music Gallery. Their album Electric Eye album was recorded live at the Music Gallery as the soundtrack to a full-length video production.
The band was part of the early punk scene which, in Toronto, crossed paths with the art world with regularity. The Government was featured in File magazine, published by General Idea. Andrew J. Paterson was the singer, guitarist and composer of most of their material . He was also a writer and a performance and video artist. The band was an element of his work in this medium, often incorporating music videos and performances by the group for works such as Electric Eye. Other videos by Paterson include Controlled Environments in 1994 and the inter-discipline work Mono Logical in 2005.
The "Flat Tire" ep was recorded at Comfort Sound Studios in Toronto on eight-track analog by Doug McClement. The end of the song is actually from a previous take, which was recorded over, except for the final chord. When Andy Paterson heard the playback, he decided to leave it in the final mix.

THE METROS (HOT WIRED SINGLE)

There are two songs on one side of this record and the other side is blank, but I think most if not all of the Rip Off singles are that way. In my opinion Hot-Wired is OK but, Go Mean is a great punk stomper. I'm not sure why they left it off the album. The Metros were a Detroit band that started in the spring of 1998. Musically they had that stripped down 70's punk n roll sound that Rip Off has become known for. Lot's of treble, but maybe not quite as noisy as some of the other Rip Off releases. The band was started by guitarists Mike Williamson and Chris Berlin. The two singles and one album. They broke up in the fall of 2000.

ARTICLES OF FAITH (WHAT WE WANT IS FREE EP)

This is one of my favorite hardcore records, to this day when I listen to Bad Attitude, it makes me want to smash something . I have this in two different sleeve colors, this one is white and I also have a copy that has a blue sleeve. Articles of Faith were a Chicago-based hardcore band that were considered one of the vanguards of that Midwestern city's scene and released a handful of excellent records. Fronted by former protest singer and eventual history instructor Vic Bondi, Articles of Faith first came on the scene in 1981. Their first EP, What We Want Is Free, was released in 1982 and was followed by the Wait EP in 1983 and the LPs Give Thanks (1984) and In This Life (1985), which were both produced by Bob Mould. While their early releases contained a mélange of differing styles, their last release, In This Life, is one of the records credited with kick-starting the emocore sound. The band (Bondi, vocals and guitar, Dave Shield, bass and vocals, Virus-X, drums, Dorian Tajbakhsh, guitar, and Joe Scuderi, guitar) broke up in 1985. Bondi went on to form Alloy and Jones Very, released the EP Fortunate Son in 2003, and appeared in the 2006 documentary American Hardcore. In 2002 punk rock label mainstay Alternative Tentacles released Complete, Vol. 1 and Complete, Vol. 2, a comprehensive anthology of the band's work.

PLUMMET AIRLINES (IT'S HARD SINGLE)

Plummet Airlines were a British pub rock band from Nottingham, whose members were later in such bands as the darts, the Pogues and Audio Murphy. Originally the band was called The Brothel Creepers, and they came together in 1973 as the result of a art college project.
Some time around 1974 the band changed drummers and their name to Glider. After a few gigs in London, apparently someone from a band of the same name threatened them and they changed their name once again to Plummet Airlines. The band released two singles, the first on Stiff records and this, their second, and my personal favorite on State Records. There was also an Album that was released on Armageddon Records in 1981 after the band was gone. The album was a compilation of their John Peel sessions, live recordings from the Hope and Anchor and maybe some other recorded odds and ends. I'm not totally sure since I have never heard it. At some pint after 1977 due to a lack of a long term record contract, and some indecision amongst band members as to the direction of the band, Plummet Airlines was no more. If anyone has anything else to add please feel free.

THE ALTERNATORS (NO ANSWERS SINGLE)

I couldn't find much on this band but I did find this article at the Detour records site, under their Bored Teenagers series. I pictured the the B side, kid don't know because it is my favorite track here but, the A side is strong as well. Officially I don't believe this ever came with a picture sleeve, and as far as pressing numbers go I found one site that said 500 and another that said 1000. I tend to believe the latter. The band got together in 1976 . They wrote all their own material and used to support bands such as The Stranglers, The Ramones and the Skids. We used to have our own large PA system so we tended to hire this to the promoter of many gigs, one of those gigs was at the "Marriot Hall" in Dundee playing on the same bill as The Rezillos. We arrived first and set up the PA and all our gear, the Rezillos arrived late and did not appreciate the amount of equipment we had. So therefore they complained to the promoter and said they would not play. When Colin was talking to the promoter, Faye Fife from the Rezillos walked up behind him with a stiletto heeled shoe in her hand and was going to hit him on the head, we shouted to Colin and he turned round and smacked her and she went reeling across the floor as you can imagine this gig did not go ahead!!! We used to support a lot of bands because we were one of the few bands in Scotland that a Hammond C3 organ. This enabled us to play many a support. We recorded a single which was a Double A side No Answers / The Kid Don’t Know. It took a year to get the singles pressed due to the small quantity in those days your order went according to the pressing numbers subsequently when the reviews were written we got accused of sounding similar to the Stranglers when in reality we were wrote and recorded before they were famous.
We went to London in pursuit of recording contract first stop was Virgin were told they could not take us on as they had just signed Devo the day before. We then tried the same publishing Company as the Stones use and they offered us a Contract, the band could not make a unanimous decision on whether to sign with them or not so they told us to get out!!! We then decided to come home to Scotland a few things were not quite right in the band anymore and therefore a few months later the band broke up.
Louis O’Neil now lives somewhere in the London area as a musician
Martin Geldart now has his own IT Company and has his own band
Colin Warnock now works for Tayside Regional Council and no longer plays
Wayne Hutton plays professionally in the clubs around Scotland

I looked around for quite a while and once again, I found know real meaningful info on these guy's. Apparently they were from the Buffalo N.Y area, and had at least one more single that I know of. Over all, a pretty descent record. Sick girls is more of a powerpop, or rock sounding track. And my favorite track, This is it is a more reved up punk track. THEE CYBERMEN (GOT A GROOVE EP)

I know ,I already posted one record from these guys but I really like this . I'm sure you wont mind, I hope this article is true, I would like to hear more from these guys. Garage, with a lot of attitude. Thee Cybermen formed way back in 1985 and have had many band members from Oswestry since their inception...
Inspired by The Who, The Prisoners and sixties music.
Over the past few years they have played numerous gigs
including two trips to Holland and two smaller UK tours both with
The Green Hornets from Portsmouth. They have played in London at The Archway Tavern, Brighton, Sailsbury, Portsmouth, and were one of the most popular garage bands in the UK during the mid to late nighties securing a record deal with Vendetta Records from Portsmouth, Alopecia Records from Oxford and Cave Records from Italy. The band also recorded a session for Mark Radcliffe on BBC Radio One in 1997 at Manchester. They were on the show as Mark Lamaar was a fan and had played the song 'That Girl' from the 'Gotta Groove 'ep. The session ended up with the singer naked! They recorded their singles and LP's at Toerag Studios in London where the White Stripes recorded in 2001. The band finally called it quits... following a gig in Oxford in 1998 due to band members moving to different parts of the country because of work commitments. The decision was recently made to reform last summer for a few gigs after Dan Price, who sings and plays lead guitar, had written a few new songs and felt the time was right to get back and see how things went. Thee Cybermen recently played at the Ex-service- man's Club in Oswestry for one night in August and one night over the Christmas holidays to a great response, so much so that the band will record again soon and do a few more gigs.

THE PAGANS (LIVE AT THE DROME SINGLE)

If I was going to pick my top ten favorite punk records of all time, this would most definitely be high on that list. This is an absolute killer record!! dare I say Perfect. I love the brutal guitar sound, it almost sounds like there's an ice pick stuck in the speaker of the amp. Accompany that with the heavy base, snotty vocals and great lyrics and you have a total classic. I like everything about it.(I guess you can tell) this pressing from 1986 is probably more rare than the original. Only 200 copies with the yellow cover. The Pagans were a Cleveland, Ohio band. Originally active from 1977 to 1979 before briefly reforming in 1982 and disbanding the following year. they proved to be an influential band that was overlooked during their two tenures. Since then, reappraisals have seen them win acclaim from critics. Drummer Brian Hudson died in 1991.

THE SUZANNES (THE SUZANNES EP)

The Suzannes were art-school punks from the Eastern Netherlands (Enschede) Reportedly they'd already started by 1976; in any case, around early 1978 their sole EP "New Disease" was released by one of the first Dutch independent labels, De 1000 Idioten (The Thousand Idiots as you might already have guessed). The label's name was derived from the fact there would always be at least a thousand idiots that would buy their records (2,000 in the Suzannes' case). I found this info on a pretty cool blog out of the Netherlands. Check out the link below

SVT (WANNA SEE YOU CRY SINGLE)

I really like this band. I have the first two singles, and the album, and there all great powerpop . You can still get most if not all their records pretty cheap if you look around. SVT was a San Francisco punk rock band from the late 1970s and early 1980s. They are notable for having the famous bassist Jack Casady (formerly of Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna) as a member. Others included singer Brian Marnell, drummer Bill Gibson (later of Huey Lewis and the News, replaced by Paul Zahl), and later Nick Buck, also a Hot Tuna veteran, on keyboards.
The group is said to have taken its name from the medical condition known as supraventricular tachycardia. A more plausible explanation is that the name was taken from a model of bass guitar amplifier, the Ampeg SVT.
The group disbanded after Zahl and Casady left to form Yanks with Jack Johnson and Owen Masterson. Casady quit Yanks and was replaced by bassist Steve Aliment. Brian Marnell died in 1983. SVT recorded two singles in 1979, one EP in 1980, and one album, "No Regrets", in 1981. Casady's former Jefferson Airplane bandmate Marty Balin covered the song "Heart of Stone" on his album Lucky in 1983.

Liverpool's The Accelerators Formed in 1977, playing over 400
gigs in their five-year existence . Other than this record they had a great track on the Liverpool comp Street to Street called Radio Blues. They also released a cassette through mail order in 1979 called, Have you been accelerated? It would seem that in 1981 the Accelerators became no more. Well, I hope you enjoyed this batch of 12" singles and ep's. It was allot of fun. Till next time.

CRISIS (HOLOCAUST-UK 12"EP)

This is a combination of the first two singles from Crisis. According to another web site, this was released after the band broke up. I'm not sure what if any label this record was on. It doesn't list a label, or a release date. On the inner groove of the record it says Noth 1, that's it. Oh well, it's definitely a classic. hey I wonder if like me any of you ever get freaked out by the small bit of whistling that appears the sixth time the opening guitar line is played on Holocaust? Just curious, never heard anyone mention that they noticed it before. Crisis started out in the late 70s with the rise of the British hardcore punk movement. They were at the forefront of the political take on punk, all of their songs being about the state of the UK and its government and anti Nazism (which will get interesting). They would release several singles, EPs and an LP. They were very comparable to and probably were on the bill with bands like Warsaw, UK Decay, The Royal Family (Dave Roberts), and numerous Crass camp bands. There was a re-release of their 7" and EP material on CD some years ago.
They took a different approach to punk, while the music was still aggressive, it was rhythmic, structured, and poetic - not merely powerchord thrash. After their split, Luke Rendall went on to Theatre of Hate, and Lester Jones played with Carcrash International (Dave Roberts/Sex Gang Children) and Quick Gas Gang (Andi Sex Gang), but most notably, Tony Wakeford and Douglas Pierce went on to form Death In June. The funny thing is, Crisis began as a dramatically anti-fascist band, but as time progressed, the members increasingly romanticized German WWII imagery and themes and the line between fascism blurred, DIJ often being referred to by those not in the know as a straight on Nazi band. The Crisis song "White Youth" was even at one point taken at face value by a member of the music press who didn't bother to listen to it.

V2 (MAN IN THE BOX 12" SINGLE)

What a shame these guy's didn't put out at least one album. At any rate they left behind two classic singles. V2 were formed in late 1976 by David Wilks and Mark Standley. Both were regulars at Bowie/Roxy clubs in Manchester, and became aware of punk rock when Dave Went to see the Sex Pistols in Manchester. This seminal gig at the Lesser Free Trade hall, at which the Pistols were supported by Manchester bands, Slaughter and the dogs, the Buzzcocks, inspired the next generation of bands to come out of Manchester, the Drones, Joy Division, the Fall, and V2.
V2 brought their Glam Rock past to the band, and quickly became a popular live act with over the top shows, explosions, smashing up their equipment, and bassist Stan the Man attacking audiences with his cricket bat guitar when they spat at him once to often.
Their first single, released on Bent records, (small bent one) was released in late 77, and quickly sold out 3 pressings. It featured 3 songs, Speedfreak, Nothing to do and That's it" it went into the alternative top ten on each release.
Their second single, released on TJM records (TJM1) was released in late 78 and sold 30,000 in 5 months, reaching no 1 in the alternative chart. It featured 2 songs, Man in the box and when the world isn't there" The latter song was by Ian Nance, who joined in 1978, as lead guitarist.
Although initially very successful, the group fell into disarray due to inexperience, lack of money, drink and dubious substances, and in early 1980 they all went their own ways. Go check out their site, It's loaded with cool info , links ect.

BUZZCOCKS (I AM THE AMAZING BUZZCOCKS 12" SINGLE)

I'm going to try to keep this brief, the Buzzcocks are an exceptional band. Especially their early material . I'm quite sure I don't have to tell you that. One way to judge a bands greatness, is to go see them live . I remember seeing the Buzzcocks live once. It was the late Eighties or perhaps the very early 90's at City Gardens in Trenton N.J.. If I remember correctly they had the original line up . Anyway what struck me was the love that came from the audience for the band, they didn't have to ask anyone to dance or pay attention. Everyone sang every word to every song. In between being totally impressed with there performance I remember how cool the atmosphere was, there was no fighting,(which was really rare for that place) everyone was just having fun. Wow, the power of music . )SO MUCH FOR KEEPING IT BREIF). If your interested I will give you a bunch of links at the bottom with tons of great info on them. The Buzzcocks formed in Manchester in 1976. They have been led by singer/songwriter/guitarist Pete Shelley for nearly their entire existence.
They are primarily remembered for their singles, a string of would-be hits that combined a strong grasp of pop song craftsmanship with rapid-fire punk energy. These singles were collected on Singles Going Steady, described by critic Ned Raggett as a "punk masterpiece" The widely covered "Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn't've)" remains one of their best-known songs.
The name "Buzzcocks" was chosen by Howard Devoto and Pete Shelley after seeing a review of Rock Follies in Time Out, which included the line "it's getting a buzz, cocks!" ("cock" being a Manchester slang term meaning "youngster").

THE ANGRY SAMOANS (DIFFERENT WORLD 12"EP)

Along with X, Black Flag, Fear and the Circle Jerks, the savagely satirical Angry Samoans rode the first wave of Los Angeles punk. Formed in Van Nuys, California in the summer of 1978, the band was founded by singers and guitarists "Metal" Mike Saunders and Gregg Turner, a pair of erstwhile rock critics who previously teamed with fellow writer Richard Meltzer in the group Vom. After considering names like the Egyptians and the Eigen Vectors (a mathematical term -- Turner later became a math professor), they settled on the Angry Samoans, enlisted Saunders' brother Kevin on guitar, bassist Todd Homer and drummer Bill Vockeroth, and initially set out as a Dictators cover band.Soon, Saunders and Turner began writing original material, drawing influence from the Velvet Underground, the Sonics, the 13th Floor Elevators and garage rock. After honing their primitive and increasingly thrashy sound at a series of surreal gigs (including sets at the Camarillo State Mental Hospital and a lunchtime show at Santa Monica High School, where emcee Meltzer asked if any "heroin addicts" were in the audience), the Samoans -- substituting guitarist P.J. Galligan for Kevin Saunders -- debuted in 1980 with the EP Inside My Brain, highlighted by "Get Off the Air," their pointed swipe at KROQ deejay Rodney Bingenheimer and the L.A. musical community. Two years later, they resurfaced with Back from Samoa, featuring titles like "They Saved Hitler's Cock," "Tuna Taco" and "My Old Man's a Fatso." Soon, the band grew disenchanted with the entire punk culture, and they spent the next several years largely in a dormant state: guitarist Steve Drojensky replaced Kevin Saunders in 1984, Vockeroth went on hiatus, and Jeff Dahl temporarily stepped in for "Metal" Mike in 1985, but by and large the group laid low until 1987's Yesterday Started Tomorrow. Problems with their label and internal differences led the group to disband after recording 1988's STP Not LSD. In 1991, "Metal" Mike issued a solo EP, Plays the Hits of the '90s; in 1994, Turner released his own album, Santa Fe, and later fronted Gregg Turner and the Blood-Drained Cows. Homer, meanwhile, resurfaced in the neo-psychedelic outfit Mooseheart Faith Stellar Groove Band. By the mid-1990s, "Metal" Mike was also fronting a new Samoans line-up which still included longtime mainstay Vockeroth as well as guitarist Alison Wonderslam and Mark Byrne as well as bassist Adrienne Harmon; their infrequent performances (only on Saturdays and only in California) remain a vital link to punk's past.

THE PLASMATICS (BUTCHER BABY 12" SINGLE)

The Plasmatics were formed by Yale University graduate and radical anti-artist Rod Swenson with Wendy O. Williams. The band was a controversial group known for wild live shows that broke countless taboos as part of an assault on American popular culture.
In addition to chainsawing guitars, blowing up speaker cabinets and sledgehammering television sets, Williams and the Plasmatics blew up automobiles live on stage. Williams was arrested multiple times and was seriously beaten in Milwaukee by the Milwaukee police before being charged with public indecency. The group was banned in London, where they were labeled as anarchists, and riots followed in Zürich and elsewhere.
The Plasmatics' career spanned five studio albums. The core of the band consisted of vocalist/front person Wendy O. Williams, guitarists Richie Stotts and Wes Beech, and manager Rod Swenson. Bassists and drummers rotated frequently over the years
In 1988, it was officially announced that Wendy and the Plasmatics were "going on hiatus." Rod later told Classic Rock magazine that they both knew they had stopped.
Wendy's last performance of a Plasmatics song occurred due to the prompting of Joey Ramone. She performed "Masterplan" one final time with Richie Stotts, when Richie's band opened for the Ramones on New Year's Eve, 1988.
On April 6, 1998, Wendy O. Williams committed suicide, ending all hopes for a reunion. A memorial was held at CBGB on May 18. Chosei Funahara, Richie Stotts, Wes Beech, Stu Deutsch, Jean Beauvoir and possibly TC Tolliver played a six-song set with four of them handling the vocals.
In 1998, shortly after Wendy's death, the Plasmatics launched an official website. In 2000, Plasmatics Media, Ltd, began re-mastering and re-releasing the entire Plasmatics and Wendy O. Williams catalog, t-shirts, and assorted other merchandise. Under this new label, Coup De Grace, the demo version of Coup d'Etat, was released. In 2002, two greatest hits, Put Your Love in Me: Love Songs for the Apocalypse and Final Days: Anthems for the Apocalypse were released.

NEWTOWN NEUROTICS (SUZI 12"E.P.)

If I had to pick, I would probably choose the hypocrite single as my favorite Newtown Neurotics record, but this would run a close second. I chose the 12" version because it has the extra track (When I need you) which in my opinion is the best track on the record . I'm not sure why it wasn't on the 7" version . The Newtown Neurotics were an English punk rock group formed in 1979, noted for their openly political music.
The band began their career playing punk, heavily indebted stylistically to The Clash and The Ramones. Over the course of the 1980s, the band dropped the "Newtown" from its name and simply became The Neurotics; along with the name change came a stylistic broadening, including slower tempos and horn arrangements. They released several albums on noted UK postpunk label Jungle Records. Lead singer and guitarist Steve Drewett took openly socialist stances in his lyrics throughout the course of the band's career. When the bassist, Colin Dredd, came down with pleurisy, he left the band; a friend was brought in to play bass for some farewell shows (at which the band's entire catalogue was played), and the band called it quits in October 1988. Drewett went on to form an Afro punk band called the Indestructible Beat. Although the Indie Beats were disbanded in 1995, Steve Drewett is known to do occasional solo gigs.
More recently, the Newtown Neurotics reformed for a few reunion shows in London & Brighton leading up to Blackpool's 2006 Wasted and 2008 Rebellion punk festivals.

THE YOUNG CANADIANS(HAWAII)

Art Bergmann, Barry Taylor, and Jim Bescott formed the K-Tels in Vancouver in early 1978 and, along with D.O.A., the Subhumans, and the Pointed Sticks, created the influential Vancouver independent music scene. Their sound, defined by Bergmann's acerbic songwriting and blistering guitar work, was more power pop than punk, yet their incendiary live performances quickly made them darlings of the Vancouver hardcore scene. Perhaps more importantly, the K-Tels were instrumental in opening the legendary Smiling Buddha Cabaret to original bands, being the first of countless new bands to perform in that venue. The local label Quintessence Records contracted them to release a single; before it was released, the K-Tel corporation, notorious for releasing low-budget compilation LPs, threatened legal action over the name of the band, and so they became the Young Canadians. Their career was to last less than two years, during which they release two EPs and a single, toured Canada with the Boomtown Rats, and, most notably, wrote the Canadian punk anthem "Hawaii," an acerbic and unforgettable attack on middle-class values in the 1970s. After the breakup of the band, Barry Taylor went on to form the popular club act Roots Roundup, while the self-destructive Bergmann's succeeding groups and solo career made him one of the key figures in the Canadian alternative music scene.

THE HEARTBREAKERS (CHINESE ROCKS 12" SINGLE)

Classic first generation punk record here, I think these may be different versions than the LP, but I'm not sure. It's been quite awhile since I listened to that record. The Heartbreakers, also known as Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers, formed in New York in May 1975. Johnny Thunders (vocals/guitar) and Jerry Nolan (drums) had quit the New York Dolls, and that same week Richard Hell (vocals/bass) was forced out of Television. The trio joined forces, and after a few shows added Walter Lure (vocals/guitar), who had played with a group called the Demons.
In 1976, Hell was either pushed out of the Heartbreakers or quit the group, and was replaced by Billy Rath, who, according to legend, was a gigolo. Hell went on to form his own band, The Voidoids.
Arriving for a European tour just as the UK punk scene was building momentum, the Heartbreakers developed a following playing in and around London. The band's members and image were widely associated with drug use, specifically heroin. The Sex Pistols invited them to open for them on the ill-fated Anarchy Tour. They shortly signed with Track Records. Their debut—and only—studio album, L.A.M.F., featured all the Heartbreakers' popular live songs. The release of the album put a huge strain on the band, because of anger among some band members over the poor quality of the mix. Several of the members of the band left at this point. The band reformed in 1979 for a few farewell shows at Max's Kansas City with drummer Ty Stix sitting in for Nolan. The resulting live album Live at Max's Kansas City '79 is considered a punk classic. The Heartbreakers' song, "London Boys", is a swipe at the Sex Pistols, in response to the Pistols' "New York", a put-down of the New York Dolls.
The band re-formed occasionally to play at New York clubs until the death of Johnny Thunders in 1991. Jerry Nolan died in 1992. Live shows often consisted of songs performed with the New York Dolls or taken from Johnny Thunders' solo career. Richard Hell rarely plays music live, concentrating instead on writing and spoken-word performances. Billy Rath's whereabouts are currently unknown, leading to various rumors such as that he died or became a priest. Walter Lure still performs sporadically when his day job allows the time for it. In 2007 he went on a short European tour.

DEAD KENNEDYS(BLEED FOR ME 12"E.P.)

Definitely one of my all time favorite bands, I don't have to tell you how great they were . Pretty much everything from in god we trust back, in my opinion is excellent . After that they were kind of spotty. Somewhere I have a video of them recording bleed for me that I think really captures how intense they were. The Dead Kennedys were a punk band from San Francisco, California That formed in 1978. Pioneers of hardcore punk during the 1980s, the band gained a large underground following in the international punk music scene.
The music of the Dead Kennedys mixed the more experimental elements of British 1970s punk with the raw energy of the 1980s American hardcore punk scene. Dead Kennedys' songs mix the deliberately shocking lyrics of punk with a humorous, acerbic, satirical, and sarcastic left-wing commentary on current social and political issues. Many of the band's songs criticized the right-wing ideologies of the Christian right and the Presidency of Ronald Reagan.
In the late 1980s, the band was embroiled in an obscenity trial in the US over the 1985 Frankenchrist album, which included a poster with art that depicted penises (Penis Landscape by H. R. Giger). The band was charged criminally with distribution of harmful matter to minors, but the trial ended with a hung jury. The band officially disbanded in 1986. From 1998-2004, the band was embroiled in an acrimonious lawsuit over royalties and rights to the band's music. In 2001, the band re-formed and began touring with a new vocalist over the objections of former lead singer Jello Biafra, who, after losing the lawsuit and being found liable for fraud, filed two appeals that he later lost. In 2008, the band picked up their first ever UK gold sales awards in 15 years.

AGENT ORANGE(WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT)

This time around I'm going to post some 12" E.P.'s and singles, this may not be as dark or as punk sounding as their earlier releases but, this is still a great record. I love the in your face drums . Agent Orange formed in Orange County, California in 1979. The band is one of the first to mix punk rock with surf music. They first gained attention with their song "Bloodstains" which they released on their own 7" E.P. An early demo of the song was presented to KROQ, Pasadena radio station's D.J. Rodney Bingenheimer, which soon became one of his show's biggest hits.
Besides having Mike Palm and Scott Miller as original members, Steve Soto was the power trio’s first bass player, the one who played on the first "Bloodstains". Soto later left the band to form The Adolescents. With new member James Levesque on bass, the group found their way to the famous Living In Darkness sessions at Brian Elliot recording studio (Elliot is most known for having composed Madonna’s hit "Papa Don’t Preach"). The result of these sessions was their first long player, Living In Darkness (originally released by Posh Boy Records in November 1981), as well as a single and one or two bonus tracks that later surfaced on some E.P.s. Sam Bolle replaced Brent Liles in January 1992, and remained with the band until May 2003, when he left to join Surf Guitar Legend Dick Dale's band, where he remains to this day.
Agent Orange is still around go check them out.
